For the love of painting

If you're a painter you may recognize this:
Sometimes you want to do a painting, just for yourself, to try a new technique or to just be in the act of painting. Even though you know beforehand that the painting will probable never sell and that nobody will like it, you have to do it, to push you in a different direction, to explore new grounds, to go beyond what you've always done, for the love of painting..

This is one of those paintings
I had so much fun altering skintones on this one and it looked totally wrong from the start but at the end it all got together and I'm really happy with it.

If you notice that in your paintings you're walking the same safe route every time, go stir things up a little and start exploring new ground, it may turn out to be the best mistake you've ever made ;)

First post of 2014!
First of all I would like to thank all the people who are reading this blog, following along or perhaps even buying a painting. I hope 2014 will bring you joy and happiness, in any shape or form.

This year I'm planning to do more painting and drawing from life, so chances are that you'll also be seeing me do some still life work now and then.

This is the first one of the year, 6x6" oil on panel.
