"Collecting sea shells", oil on panel, 6x8 (15x20cm)
Backlight is something I've always enjoyed.
I painted this painting from a photo I took of a little boy, collecting sea shells on a beach in the setting sun. The beautiful rimlight, the long, blue shadows, his joyful pose and the light scattering in the plastic bucket made this a into beautiful composition that needed to be painted.
Today I went to the opening of the spring exhibition of the Art Society of Waddinxveen.
Lots of nice people and beautiful art.
I was pleased that the mayor really liked the portrait I painted of him.
