Plein air, finally!

Today I went to the Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen, a nature reserve South of Amsterdam with painting buddy Cas van der Sluijs.
The day started out very grey and we had a little bit of rain but soon the weather cleared up.
We managed to do 2 paintings.

"In de pan", oil on panel, 24x30cm

"5 op een rij", oil on panel, 24x30cm

I think you should go out with your Buddy more often, Erik. These plein air paintings are wonderful..a very nice change for you.

Love seeing the easel right in front of the scene!

In spite of the gray day you did manage to pull off two nice paintings. I like the rough brushwork in "5 op een rij" it adds a fresh feeling to that one.

Thank you Hilda, I certainly expect to go out more often now temperatures are going up again.

Hi Pam, I always love those shots as well! Thanks for your comment!

Thank you Kim, I used a panel with a bit more texture for that one. And because the light was fading fast I didn't thin the paint as much and used a lot of drybrushing. It suits the scene I guess with that gnarly old tree in front :)

Hallo Erik:) Heel mooi hoor!

Very nice, Erik! I like how you have used subtle color shifts on the bushes to add interest. Great brushwork too.

Thank you Arto,
lately I've been experimenting with those subtle color shifts after reading an article on the blog of Dan Gerhartz about that subject. Good eye!

You really captured the look and feel of a winters day. These are both very nice. I like the subtlety of your colors.

About time Erik, you almost missed spring, ... Love the second one the texture really pays off.

:) Thanks Rene, LOL, yes indeed I almost missed spring..
The second one is my favorite too because of the texture.
