Virtual paintout Prince Edward Island, Canada

My submission for the Virtual Paintout August edition.
I've been wanting to participate for a long time, but never quite came around to do it.
If you're not familiar with the Virtual Paintout, basically the concept is this:
Every month a location around the world gets picked, and artists use Google Streetview to virtually drive around, pick a location to paint and submit the results to the blog.

I had a lot a fun doing this one, although you have to set a time limit for yourself while location scouting otherwise you'll be driving around for hours finding a place that's even better :)

Thanks Arti,
Yes it was hard to pick one this time, too much to choose from. I love to paint these kind of barns.

This is a really nice painting. I noticed further down that you were using a limited palette - did you expand it for this one? Whatever, it is good work!

Thank you Jesus. I've been to Canada about ten years ago, to the Westcoast and really liked it. I'm looking forward to going again as soon as my kids are old enough to enjoy the trip as well.

Hi Sarah, thank you. Indeed I used a few more colors here but I've tried to keep it harmonious.
My palette was Titanium White,Cad Lemon, Yellow Ohre,Transp.Oxide Red,Cad Red Medium, Ultramarine Blue, and Permanent Green Dark.

Wonderful light in this!
I really am enjoying looking at your work.

The duckling is adorable :)

Thank you Leslie, I enjoyed painting the strong light here. The duckling was fun too, sometimes a painting really flows :)

Erik, what a great subject composite. Love the texture in the barn and silo. Although in real life, the silo would have steadier and more straight sides, the way you have it adds to the edginess of this scene. Very nice job.

Thanks Ruth, I had fun keeping things loose here.

I saw this one on VPO and loved it Erik. The composition is great, and your shadows with the shape of the building are superb! Love the clothes on the line - very nice touch!

Thank you Nancy, love your tractor image. It was the first time for me to participate in the VPO, hope to participate again this month, I just saw that it is Manhattan Island which is exciting.

i was scanning thru the entries for the virtual paintout, saw this, and really liked everything about it - the not-totally-representational way you've depicted the old barn, the colors - it really stood out for me - then i realized you're the same erik who just commented on my blog! thank you! looking forward to more vpo!
